Kellina grew up studying at the beach with Janet Sydnor and was one of the first graduates from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. After high school she moved to Chicago to study and perform with the Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago dance company and then on to Pensacola, Florida where she was a member of “First City Dance Company” under the direction of Michael Williams and Susan Quinn-Williams. Kellina then moved to New York to study at the Broadway Dance Center and Steps. She moved back to Jacksonville and taught at numerous private studios as well as Stanton and Fletcher high schools. Kellina has also had the pleasure to choreograph for Players By The Sea and Theater Jacksonville. She was the dance director at Episcopal High school from 1997 to 1999 and in 2001, Kellina opened her own dance studio, Studio K, in the San Marco area. After 5 years she sold it to stay home with her two children, Whit and Ella. Kellina is an established choreographer and teacher with students who have gone on to perform on Broadway , in the successful TV series ‘Law and Order”, “Gilbert Girls” and even winning an Emmy award for “Mad Men”. Kellina is so proud of her students and is so blessed to be able to influence the lives of children through dance.
Kara Barger is ecstatic to be teaching Musical Theater at Studio 1014. She is a twenty year old native to Jacksonville. Kara just recently completed her AA at Florida Community College this past Spring. She hopes to transfer to Jacksonville University to study Communications and Musical Theater. In high school, Kara was named Miss Fletcher 2006 and Miss Senior High 2006. Kara has had the privilege to appear on many of Jacksonville’s stages performing both community and professional theater. Her credits include Elma Duckworth in /Bus Stop/ at Theater Jacksonville, Sister Albert Maria in /Tony and Tina’s Wedding/(Larry Pelligini), and most recently a Phantom in /The Rocky Horror Show Live!/(Chancey Productions). Her latest project was being a part of the HBO movie/Recount/ as Laura Dern’s stand-in and the role of Young Republican. Kara can be seen in the upcoming new musical/ Green Room/ at Players By The Sea this July.
Torri Fowler began dancing at the age of three and has been hooked ever since. She has been trained in ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, lyrical, tap, and competitive dance. She traveled with Fancy Dancer Studios all around the country competing as the highest levels of competition, bringing home numerous 1st place and overall awards. She was also awarded a spot on the Dance International Team, where she performed in many famous places all around Australia. While training in Georgia, Torri began teaching dance at the age of 16, and managed a small dance group beginning at age 17. She also choreographed many dance routines for the contestants of the Miss Georgia pageants, some of which winning most outstanding talent.
After graduating High School, Torri attended UGA and Jacksonville University studying Dance Education. She graduated from JU at the top of her class with a BA in Elementary Education and a minor in Dance Education. While at JU, she was awarded the Fine Arts Academic Award, Most Outstanding Student in Elementary Education, and JU Education Student of the Year. Since college, Torri has been teaching 4th Grade at Abess Park Elementary, as well as, owning and managing her own dance studio that trained students ages 3 to 15 in jazz, tap, ballet, pointe, hip hop, lyrical, and tumbling. Although she has moved on from owning her own studio, Torri is thrilled to be working with students at Studio 1014 where she can share her passion for dance with young aspiring dancers!
Katie Ashby grew up in Pasadena, Maryland and began her dance training at the Edna Lee Dance Studio when she was just 4 years old. Throughout her 19 years of dance training, she has received instruction in ballet, lyrical, jazz, pointe, modern, contemporary, and tap. Over time Katie has performed in 9 productions of The Nutcracker Ballet, competed throughout the United States with her studio’s dance team, and also won first runner up in the Ms. Starquest pageant. In 2003 Katie became a junior member of Dance Masters of America and then in 2004, she attended the Dance Masters of America’s student honors intensive program in New York City. While there, she took various dance classes with choreographers from across the globe such as: Ashley Conterna, Adrienne Canterna, Misako Aoki Oda, Mary Moran, and many others.1014 Guest Choreographers
David Mann is the founder of the new convention sensation The Shootout Dance Experience. David's innovative tap choreography has appeared on the national television shows "Good Morning America," "America's Got Talent," "America's Most Talented Kids," and most recently on the WE Network reality show "Little Miss Perfect." His choreography can also be seen in industrial performances for Hugo Boss, Paramount, Ingersal Rand and on board Celebrity, Holland America, Norwegian and Cunard Cruise Lines. You can also catch his choreography in the national tours of "Road to Victory," "On Tap" and most notably "Dr. Doolittle" starring Tommy Tune. Mann's recent awards include Dancer Magazine"Teacher of the Year" as well as "Teacher of the Year" by Kids Artistic Review. David's tap company DMANN TAP is set to to premiere a preview of its full length show"Beat Boyz" as an opening act to Justin Mann's "Breaking Silence" in Charlotte 2010.
