Cathy Finne

Kellina Chavoustie

Kellina grew up studying at the beach with Janet Sydnor and was one of the first graduates from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. After high school she moved to Chicago to study and perform with the Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago dance company and then on to Pensacola, Florida where she was a member of “First City Dance Company” under the direction of Michael Williams and Susan Quinn-Williams. Kellina then moved to New York to study at the Broadway Dance Center and Steps. She moved back to Jacksonville and taught at numerous private studios as well as Stanton and Fletcher high schools. Kellina has also had the pleasure to choreograph for Players By The Sea and Theater Jacksonville. She was the dance director at Episcopal High school from 1997 to 1999 and in 2001, Kellina opened her own dance studio, Studio K, in the San Marco area. After 5 years she sold it to stay home with her two children, Whit and Ella. Kellina is an established choreographer and teacher with students who have gone on to perform on Broadway , in the successful TV series ‘Law and Order”, “Gilbert Girls” and even winning an Emmy award for “Mad Men”. Kellina is so proud of her students and is so blessed to be able to influence the lives of children through dance.

Cathy Finne, owner and artistic director of Studio 1014 is a proved leader in dance in Jacksonville. She brings over thirty years experience to the dance industry. As a student dancer Cathy received training from world renowned choreographers such as Frank Hatchett, Joe Tremaine, Karen Hebert and Gus Giordano. She continues her training during the summers by traveling to New York & Los Angeles to study with the country’s leading dance professionals. Cathy is an award winning dancer and choreographer; she has won numerous awards all over the country.Mrs. Finne is a native to Neptune Beach where she attended high school at Fletcher High and graduated at the top of her class. Cathy then attended college at Jacksonville University where she received her Bachelor’s of Science in Dance. While at JU Cathy was awarded such honors as Jazz Dancer of the Year and Choreographer of the Year. After graduating college, Cathy moved to Orlando where she was employed at Walt Disney World. She performed in many shows around Disney theme parks. Cathy is an active member of Dance Masters of America, an internationally recognized dance organization. She is certified to teach Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip-hop, Tumbling and Musical Theater. Cathy has also choreographed several musicals for Community Theater. Students of Studio 1014 have received scholarships to The Roc School, The Joffery Ballet, Tremaine Dance Conventions, Dance Masters of America as well as college scholarships. Cathy has also trained many pageant winners. In addition to directing Studio 1014 Cathy began a dance program for The WEE School in Neptune Beach. This program is designed for students’ ages 18 months to 5 years old. This program is available for students of the pre-school. Time spent at the WEE school is time donated by Cathy and the staff of Studio 1014. Cathy is also the Artistic Director of Studio 1014 Dance Elite, a non-profit competitive dance team within Studio 1014. These dancers travel the country participating in regional and national competitions each year. These dancers also donate their time to various community events throughout the year. These dancers have participated in The Opening of the Beaches Parade, Rock for the Cure, Art in the Park and National Dance Week performances just to name a few. Studio 1014 Dance Elite dancers have been invited to perform in such events as The Nutcracker Ballet, The Toyota Gator Bowl, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Walt Disney World, Super Bowl XXXIX and on Channel 4 "The Local Station. These dancers have been invited to perform in such cities as Las Vegas and New York City as Youth Dance Ambassadors. Miss Cathy is truly blessed to share her love of dance with children.

Greg Fountain

April Wexelman

April Wexelman started her career in Los Angeles. She was awarded the California Arts Scholar Award at fourteen and was a scholarship student at California School for the Arts. She also danced on scholarship with both the Houston Ballet for two years and The Kirov Ballet in Washington DC. She performed lead roles with the Malibu Ballet, Conejo Civic Ballet and California Dance Theatre. She also has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Pepperdine University in Psychology, and participated in the Fine Arts Overseas program in Florence, Italy. After having children, she taught at Dance 101 and Roswell City Dance, two of the largest and most prestigious schools in the Atlanta area, creating new hybrid classes such as Cardio Ballet and Weighted Barre. She is a respected teacher in ballet, lyrical, contemporary and jazz, and is always looking for ways to create new and fulfilling class experiences. She was a member of the Atlanta based contemporary company Phyzix.. April is also a choreographer and teacher with LaVilla School for the Performing Arts and Douglas Anderson School for the Performing Arts. She has also taught at Florida State College, and Episcopal High School, as a guest teacher. She teaches Dance Fitness at Dance Trance and recently coordinated and choreographed a flash mob, organizing multiple dance organizations and schools in the city to come together for dance and community. She is currently choreographing and co-directing the YAGP program at Studio 1014.

Greg Fountain is the founder of Skillful Movementz Hip-Hop Workshop Company which launched it's first "Inspirations of Hip-Hop" Master Class series in 2008. He has made a commitment to make dance a memorable experience for all dancers that cross his path.

While living in the hottest dance regions for short periods of time, Greg has had various opportunities to study with many famous dance choreographers such as; Dave Scott (Step up 3D choreographer), Shane Sparks (America's Best Dance Crew), Chuck Maldonado (Stomp The Yard choreographer) and countless others.

Some of his accomplishments include working on films such as Step Up 4 the movie, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, Telemundo; Performing for/with artist such as Glenn Douglas Packard (emmy nominated choreographer) Bobby Valentino, Avant, Asia Cruise, Ying Yang Twins, as well as doing commercials, music videos, and dancing on various tours.

Peyton Martin

Peyton Martin started dancing at the age of 2 ½ years old and has now been dancing for 13 years. She started dancing with Miss Cathy 6 years ago and eventually joined the Studio 1014 Dance Elite. She has studied a wide variety of dance idioms over the years such as ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, musical theater, and modern. Last summer, after going through an audition process in Los Angeles, CA., Peyton was accepted to the Tremaine Dance Apprentice Company and has traveled all over the United States dancing and assisting in different classes. While traveling, she has had the opportunity to study under such well known dancers such as Joe Tremaine, Frank Hatchett, Desiree Robbins, Tyce Diorio, Brian Friedman, and Mia Michaels to name just a few. Peyton has enjoyed working with her classes this year and is excited about many more years of teaching and dancing with Studio 1014.

Heather Olmez

Heather Olmez started dancing at the young age of 3 and has now been dancing 13 years. She started dancing with Ms.Cathy 7 years ago and eventually joined Studio 1014 Dance Elite. She has studied a wide variety of dance idioms over the years such as ballet, tap, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, musical theater, and modern. After going through an audition process at the age of 13 in Los Angeles, CA, Heather was accepted to the Tremaine Dance Apprentice Company and has traveled all over the United States as well as Innsbruck, Austria. While traveling, she has had the opportunity to study under well known choreographers such as Joe Tremaine, Frank Hatchett, Desiree Robbins, Doug Caldwell, Chelsea Traille, Benji Schwimmer, and Mia Michaels to name a few. Heather has enjoyed working with all her classes this year and is excited about many more years of teaching and dancing with Studio 1014!

1014 Elite

1014 Elite Dancers are proven talent leaders on the First Coast.

Studio 1014 Dance Elite offers intense dance training for the more serious dancer between the ages of 4 & 18. Dance Elite dancers are selected through an audition process. These dancers train between 10 & 15 hours each week. They travel throughout the southeast to various regional conventions and competitions each year. Dance Elite members also participate in a National competition annually. These dancers go through an audition before an outside panel of judges for placement. Dance Elite maintains five levels each with its own requirements. Dancers are required to attend classes, conventions and rehearsals specific to each level.

Along with outstanding dance instruction these dancers learn how to be a member of a team with discipline, support and amazing camaraderie. Dance Elite members enjoy sleep-overs, pool parties and various other activities. Our Dancing Buddy program where older dancers are paired with younger dancers instills the importance of leadership, mentorship and support to one another. This program promotes team work.

Under the direction of Cathy Finne, Artistic Director, Dance Elite members have won numerous awards, honors and scholarships on the regional and national level. This team proves a force to be reckoned with thru its cutting-edge choreography and technically trained dancers. All levels of Dance Elite participate in community functions as we believe that performance is involved in true dance training.

1014 Dancers to Perform during the 2012 London Olympics

Studio 1014 is proud to announce members of its Dance Elite team will be performing in London during the 2012 Summer Olympics. AAPAE, a not for profit educational organization has choosen Studio 1014 dancers based on the education they receive along with their outstanding results during recent competition seasons! We will be traveling to London the first week in August 2012 to be a part of this amazing honor. Performances will be at Warwick Castle and also on the Thames River. We are very excited to be a part of this unbelieveable opportunity! Dancers will be raising funds to assist with their travel. We would appreciate any assistance you or your business would like to offer!
